This is a cut and stick collage workshop that invites you to create a piece of art around your own identity.

Within this workshop you will review a range artists that manipulate imagery and text as a visual communication tool. I will introduce you to themes that invite you to think about your identity and act as a springboard. You will select a broad range of visuals that build the narrative of your identity. You will cut and stick the visuals in a selective order considering scale, proportion, colour and prospective to communicate your story.

The following themes act as a springboard to create a narrative and tell the story of you and your identity:

Protestor

Storytelling

Cultural and heritage

You will then consider post construction techniques such as embroidery to elevate your artwork.

About the artist

Emma is Fashion Lecturer at the University of Bolton. Emma’s expertise falls within the area of research and product development of adaptive fashion for People with disabilities, including sensory processing disorder and Autism. Emma’s continued research in the area of Fashion and Disabilities has creditable recognition, her MA collection won a Gold award with the prestigious Creative Conscious Award in 2019.

• This is part of our Queer Publishing programme, an LGBTQIA+ event!

• Please bring an old t-shirt or a tote bag you would like to print on. (We will bring a few spare tote bags for those who need)

• This is an inclusive event. All are welcome (ages 18+)

• Teas, coffees, and snacks will be provided

• The venue is accessible, with an accessible toilet

• Parking is available close to the venue at Central Retail Park, Richard St, Rochdale OL11 1DZ

• Please arrive to the venue no earlier than 1.45pm
